States with projected budget shortfalls based on information compiled by Associated Press reporters across the country, and the size of the estimated deficit:


Alabama (FY2016), $290 million.

Alaska (FY2016), $3.2 billion.

Arizona (FY2016), $1 billion.

Connecticut (FY2016) $1.2 billion.

Delaware (FY2016), $67 million.

Hawaii (FY2016), $193 million.

Illinois (FY2016), $6 billion.

Kansas (FY2016), $800 million.

Louisiana (FY2016), $1.6 billion.

Maine (FY2016 and FY2017), $460 million combined.

Maryland (FY2016), $750 million.

Massachusetts (FY2016), $1.8 billion.

Michigan (FY2015 and FY2016), $450 million combined.

Nevada (FY2016 and FY2017), $500 million combined.

Oklahoma (FY2016), $611 million.

Pennsylvania (FY2016), $2 billion.

Rhode Island (FY2016), $190.4 million.

Vermont (FY2016), $113 million.

Virginia (FY2015 and FY2016), $2.4 billion combined.

Washington (FY2016 and FY2017), $2 billion combined.

West Virginia (FY2016), $195 million.
