Accident closes Interstate 10 south of Phoenix

PHOENIX — A sheriff’s patrol car ran into a big rig on a freeway south of Phoenix early Tuesday morning, shutting down the road and backing up traffic.

The fiery wreck on Interstate 10 in Casa Grande forced closure of westbound lanes near State Route 287.
A Pinal County sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries after his patrol vehicle hit the truck, which was parked on the side of the road.

Shortly before 6 a.m., lanes were reopening.
