PHOENIX — It is not every day you hear the words “snow,” “May” and “Arizona” in the same sentence. It was looking a lot like winter wonderland again in parts of northern Arizona over the weekend.
A storm system rolled in on Friday, which brought several inches of snow to areas around Flagstaff and more than a foot to Arizona Snowbowl.
A few snowboarders, including Graham Merwin, took advantage of this late-season snowfall and hiked up the high mountains. In Merwin’s GoPro video, he is riding his way down from Agassiz Summit at Snowbowl on Sunday.
According to The Weather Channel, Flagstaff averages one May day a year with measurable snowfall.
