PHOENIX — The nation’s first universal charging route for electric cars opened in Arizona this week.
The Phoenix-to-Tucson route has been equipped with six charging stations that serve all electric cars.
“It’s visible in the sun,” GOE3 CEO Bruce Brimacombe said. “It’s inexpensive to run, it doesn’t have proprietary membership cards.”
Brimacombe said each station has a Tesla charger as well.
The strip of chargers is the first in a nationwide network that is in the works. Brimacombe said universal charges from the Pacific to the Atlantic are good for the nation’s economy.
“Imagine going 300 miles on $5,” he said. “What would you do with that money?”
