PHOENIX — A new survey conducted by the University of Phoenix reveals that plenty of teachers are happy with their jobs.
“For Arizona, 84 percent of teachers are satisfied,” said Pamela Roggeman, academic dean at the University of Phoenix. “It’s a great time to become a teacher.”
Over 1,000 K-12 teachers were surveyed nationwide regarding their chosen profession and what can be done to keep teachers entering the field.
“What we’re finding is that teachers are becoming teacher-leaders on their campuses,” Roggeman said. “Teachers work together in ways that affect students beyond the classroom.”
Parent involvement is an integral part of learning, and teachers want parents involved.
Based on the survey, 62 percent of teachers suggested not waiting until there is an issue to connect with teachers.
According to the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future, more than 1.7 million teachers will retire in the next 10 years, creating a shortage across the country.
