Seven competing food trucks from across the country descended on Lake Havasu City over the weekend to go head-to-head in the season premiere of the Food Network’s hit TV show, “The Great Food Truck Race”.
The show’s premise focuses on food trucks competing for customers and a $50,000 grand prize. Each city presents a different challenge, as this season has contestants following the old Route 66 from Los Angeles to Chicago, making several stops along the way.
Lake Havasu City Special Events Coordinator Brian Allen says the show’s presence in the city comes at an ideal time, as Lake Havasu City played host to the Bassmaster Elite fishing tournament on the very same weekend.
Allen was hopeful that the show would provide a national spotlight on proud city landmarks, such as the London Bridge sidewalk.
“They’re playing up our local landmark as much as they can,” Allen told havasunews.com.
