Valley-area beer entrepreneurs look to streamline process for aspiring home brewers

It’s long been a goal of Morgan Ringwald’s to turn his hobby of home brewing into something a bit more lucrative and rewarding. It’s why his new business venture, Hop Shop Brewing Co., has him both motivated and hopeful that he can share his love of craft beer with others.

So what exactly is Hop Shop Brewing Co.? Well according to Ringwald, it’s an ambitious startup with the stated goal of helping aspiring home brewers begin crafting and selling their own beer.

Per a Phoenix Business Journal report, Hop Shop will provide a bar and several brewing stations where customers can come in and craft their own beer. The business will provide patrons will all the materials needed to brew “five gallons, or for the more experienced brewers, two kegs worth” of beer. Those who make more than the allotted amount will keep half the batch, while the other half will be sold on tap at the Hop Shop bar.

“For every pint sold you get a credit for your next batch,” Ringwald told Phoenix Business Journal. “It is really, really extremely affordable for the home brewers that are curious and want to brew more than just a five gallon batch with us.”

To get the project off the ground, Ringwald is attempting to fund Hop Shop through a Kickstarter campaign that looks to raise between $25,000 and $200,000.

“If we can get the money we are looking for, fantastic,” Ringwald said. “We didn’t have Internet dreams of funding everything in 30 days. That doesn’t really happen.”
