The employees who play the (seemingly) life-and-death game of Fantasy Football, that is.
And just like its March Madness counterpart, it’s costing businesses billions.
Challenger, Gray & Christmas, an outplacement consultant firm in Chicago, calculated just how much the 15-week fantasy football schedule costs businesses in productivity, according to Bleacher Report.
Their result?
$13.4 billion.
Just two years ago, they calculated fantasy football productivity — or lack thereof — and the figure was HALF of that — $6.5 billion.
As for March Madness, the firm calculated losses at $1.2 billion “for each unproductive hour of work during the first week of the tournament, when so many games are being played while people are at the office,” The Columbus Dispatch reported.
