Colorado dog accidently signed up for Obamacare

A Fort Collins, Colo. man got quite the shock when he tried to register for new insurance under the Affordable Care Act: His dog ended up getting the coverage.
“Several days later, a letter came addressed to Baxter from them,” said Baxter’s owner, Shane Smith. “I thought it was odd. I just couldn’t stop laughing.”
Apparently, the much-maligned ACA website, healthcare.gov, took Baxter’s name from a security question when Smith was creating his log in.
“I realized, ‘Oh my gosh. My dog has just been accepted for Connect for Colorado,'” Smith said.
After getting the letter, Smith called a help line and spoke to several people. He told them all the same story: His dog had been mistakenly covered by the ACA, commonly called Obamacare.
“I talked to different people to make sure it was off,” he said. “They didn’t apologize or anything. They were as shocked as I was.”
Despite seeing the humor in the situation, Smith said it has caused some very real concerns.Baxter’s name should have been removed from the policy, but he doesn’t know for certain.
“I don’t know whether I’m going to be covered for sure.”
