PHOENIX — As one glance towards the sky sometimes makes obvious, the air above the Valley is in terrible shape.
The American Lung Association made it official Wednesday with a State of the Air report that ranked Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale among the most polluted cities.
The grouping received an F for smog (ozone) and short-term particle pollution (soot). The area ranked No. 10 in the smog category and No. 12 in one-day particle pollution.
The Valley passed for annual accumulation of particle pollution.
Phoenix ranked 11th and eighth in those categories a year ago.
