PHOENIX — Valley-based Sprouts Farmers Market will open doors in central Phoenix later this month, its fifth grand opening in the state this year.

The store will start business at Seventh Avenue and Osborn Road on Aug. 22. Giveaways for the first 200 customers include 20 percent off their first groceries. Anyone in line before the market opens at 7 a.m. will receive samples of muffins and coffee.

Sprouts said on its website the store, like the others, will donate unsold, consumable groceries to St. Mary’s Food Bank.

The chain opened locations most recently in south Tempe and Scottsdale in March and April, respectively.

Sprouts, which has headquarters in Phoenix, marked 16 years in business in July. The company has 300 stores in 17 states.

Earlier this year, the grocery group earned a fourth-place spot on Fortune 500’s most-admired companies.

The latest Arizona site joins other brand tenants signed on at the development called Osborn Marketplace, including Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s and Orangetheory Fitness.

A Bashas’ market had been at the lot for years. It had been the oldest grocery store in the Arizona chain, opening in 1956. The market was shut down in April 2017.

We want to hear from you.
