Run designed to help ailing American homeowners

Oct 29, 2012, 7:14 PM | Updated: 7:14 pm

On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals will be hosting the American Dream Run for Homeownership at Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria, Ariz.

The purpose of this event is to promote awareness of the valid resources for foreclosure avoidance and homeowner assistance.

As our real estate market continues to recover, it’s more important than ever to ensure the American dream of homeownership stays within reach and scam-free for the next wave of consumers. The foreclosure crisis has been so vast that most of us know at least one person who has had to endure a foreclosure or short sale due to unemployment, underemployment or other distress.

Unfortunately, we also know people who have been given the runaround, lured unwittingly into scams and harmed during their attempts to work out a solution.

Resources and help for these homeowners are available and either free or low-cost services, with no up-front charges. Come out to this positive event and talk with representatives from the Arizona Department of Housing, the ASU Sandra Day O’Connor Homeowner Advocacy Unit and others in the real estate community to learn more on how to help your neighbors and community in recovery.
