What’s it like to be ‘blue’ in a Republican state?

As Communications Director for Arizona’s Democratic Party, Frank Comacho has been the one person who is regularly in touch with both of our state’s Democrats. I’m sure it seems like that to some.
Many people back east are awe-struck when they find out Arizona has two elected Democrats. However, recent voter registration numbers show that new voters are nearly split between Republican, Democrat and Independent.
So why is Arizona seen as a member of the far right? Until a few years ago, the state was predominantly blue while those in the capital were primarily red. Confusing, isn’t it?
That’s why it’s important to get an answer to the question, “What’s it like to be Democrat in a Republican state?”
