Pat’s Personal Portraits: Boy Scouts lift gay ban

Recently the Boy Scouts of America decided to end the ban on openly gay scouts becoming and/or being members. The decision was met with a luke warm response from people because many felt the effort didn’t go all the way. There is still a ban on gay leaders in the Boy Scouts.
Tom Simplot is an openly gay Phoenix City Council member and is a part of the group who did not celebrate when the ban was lifted. I spoke with him about his reaction to the ban, his take on what made the BSA make the change and about the first openly gay professional athlete.
