Goodbye party

Hey, Wal boy! Did you hear about the big celebration they threw for you Monday night at one of your favorite places, the Cine Capri?
Hundreds and hundreds of people showed up and your friends got up and said really nice things about you. It was everything you’d hate — sentimentality, tears, hugging — but this time there wasn’t anything you could do about it.
Oh, you would have liked the laughs and there were plenty of those. In fact, privately, I know you would have loved it all, but I promise not to say anything.
Have you seen Ladmo? Do they let him wear the hat? See, I don’t even know who “they” are. You were never sure if there was a place you’d go, but I checked with a medium friend of mine and from what she tells me, you landed in a pretty nice spot.
She said Jim Henson is a neighbor and he has all his Muppets for the kids to play with. Jay Ward of “Rocky & Bullwinkle” fame is down the street. And Chuck Jones, we loved his Bugs and Daffy cartoons, didn’t we? Look, if the folks there get down because of some of the things happening down here, just do the song for them: you know, ho ho ha ha hee hee ha ha.
Stay in touch, Wallace, remember, I’m the new guy.
I’m Pat McMahon.
