Costume crazy

I find myself longing for the intellectual company of the family of Honey Boo Boo.
I decided they would be more stimulating neighbors than the woman I just heard about who lives in Craigsville, Va. Her name is Jessica and her 7-year-old son is Jackson. Like most American kids, Jackson went trick-or-treating on Halloween.
It might have been easy to pick Jackson out of the costumed crowd going door-to-door in Craigsville: He was the one in the Ku Klux Klan outfit.
Yep, and it was complete: The peaked hood, the cross symbol — everything but the rope. He’s 7 and said he saw the outfit worn in a movie.
That’s kind of innocent.
But his mom defends not only the outfit, but the Klan itself. She said they simply stand for what’s right: “White with white, black with black, man with woman” and apparently. in Jessica’s case, cousin with cousin.
By the way, ironically, her full name is Jessica Black.
I shouldn’t let the Klan upset me. After all, everybody knows: sheet happens.
I’m Pat McMahon.
