Well, we can all agree that there are a lot of unanswered questions about one news story. The State of the Union? No. We found out where the Republicans stand as soon as the speech was over, and the address has already been microscopically analyzed by the people who do that.
There were touching moments as Rep. Gabrielle Gifford’s seat remained empty and little Christine Green was eulogized. There was some humor this year when one congressman referred to the mixed seating arrangement as being “superficial.” Imagine superficiality on the floor of Congress. Shocker. The story that everyone is talking about isn’t the Oscar nominations either, although 127 hours is projected to be the length of the ceremony itself.
No, there is an Arizona story that would never be allowed on screen. It’s the one that asks, “How the hell did a 48-year-old woman like Susan Brock wind up having an affair with a 13-year-old? She’s married to a public figure, has kids, is active in her church and pleaded guilty to having an intimate four-year relationship with a kid who’s still in high school. She’ll be sentenced March 16.
Do you think her punishment would be the same if she was a man?
