It sounds like the stuff of nightmares, but it’s the perfect time for a movie. But which one? There’s so many options out there and it is tough to satisfy everyone.

Rather than scroll through Netflix, we asked Bruce St. James, our local movie review guy, to tell us his top 10 movies of 2014.

He didn’t disappoint.

10. ‘Whiplash’

Combine jazz music with an award-worthy performance by J.K. Simmons and you have a moving, intense, masterpiece.
