Since its creation in 2006, Twitter has become a global social media phenomenon.
It’s become a way we communicate with our friends, family, celebrities and even President Barack Obama.
Twitter has become a platform for discussing world events, breaking news and even arguing over the color of a dress.
It all started with a simple tweet by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter: “just setting up my twttr.”

Early user Chris Messina transformed the pound symbol into a “hashtag,” changing the way we communicate and divulge information.
