Russians offer condolences, apologies at Moscow Dutch embassy

While both Ukraine and Russia continue to say that neither of them were responsible for the horrendous missile attack on a Malaysian Airlines passenger jet, Russia’s own citizens are offering their apologies.

Throughout the day on Friday, Russians visited the Dutch embassy in Moscow to pay their respects. Many of them left notes that begged for forgiveness, while others read that most Russians were not murderers or terrorists.

A sampling is below.

“Forgive us, if you can.”

“Not all Russians are murderers and terrorists.” An English sign in the back reads, “Please forgive.”

“In our country there are a lot of good people who love other people. Forgive us for all the rest.”

In English, a note reads: “We are very, very, very, very sorry! What a terrible shame!”
