A charity in Vancouver, Canada has figured out a low-cost way to embrace the city’s homeless, rather than shun them.
According to their website, RainCity Housing “provides innovative, outcome-oriented programs and services for people living with mental illness, addictions and other challenges.”
RainCity has converted many public benches into small living spaces for those who need them, Gawker reported.
During the daytime, the benches are places to wait for a bus or sit. At night, they convert into usable shelters where the backboard lifts up to provide shelter.
