Someone really should have thought about pressing “Send” on this tweet.
According to the Huffington Post, Home Depot apologized Friday for a tweeted photo that showed a man in a monkey mask sitting between two black men with the caption, “Which drummer is not like the others?” Some called the tweet offensive and racist.
“We have zero tolerance for anything so stupid and offensive,” Home Depot tweeted. The company assured customers that both the marketing agency and the individual who posted the tweet have been terminated, though it didn’t reveal the name of the agency.
Home Depot also said it was reviewing its social media policies.
The do-it-yourself home store responded to many angry tweets using the same message of, “We have zero tolerance for anything so stupid and offensive. Deeply sorry. We terminated agency and individual who posted it.”
