Keep your heart healthy by eating right

Feb 3, 2014, 7:44 PM | Updated: 7:45 pm

What’s your first reaction when someone tell you they have a great tasting healthy recipe? If it’s anything like mine, it probably goes something like “no thanks. I have no interest in eating something that looks and tastes like a bowl of weeds.” But then I try the food and most of the time the food is exactly as described: tasty and healthy.

This month is American Heart Month and we will be focusing on how to keep your heart healthy. Heart disease is one of the biggest killers of men. Like most diseases, there are steps you can take now to make sure you don’t put yourself at risk later in life. One of the steps is eating healthier foods.

The Arizona Department of Health Services has a great recipes that are easy to make. I’ve tried a few, and though they never look as good as the picture, they have all tasted great. Here is one of my favorites…Jalapeño Red Bean Burgers. Do your heart and tastebuds a favor and try this recipe.
