These unrelated unsolved crimes that happened five years apart, but in the same neighborhood.

The first was Tuesday, October 31st, 2006.
About 3:00 a.m., Efron Gonzales-Herrera was shot and killed while driving near Camelback and 63rd Avenue.
Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch said 18-year-old Efron was on his way to work at a machinery company and was driving his pregnant girlfriend’s car.

Witnesses saw a dark blue or black Ram pickup truck in the area.

Because the car Efron was driving belonged to his girlfriend, investigators have even been looking at whether or not she was the intended target.

“But, as of today, we still have not solved this crime and are no closer to solving it”, said Burch.

Efron’s baby daughter was born months after his murder.

Our next case happened just blocks away on Sunday, February 5th, 2012, about 1:00 p.m.

“Two suspects went into the Super Pawn at 59th Avenue and Camelback and robbed the place — smashing glass cases and grabbing jewelry,” said Burch.

Burch said it was terrifying for the employees and the customers who’d been ordered to the ground at gunpoint.
Burch said the gunmen went to great lengths to conceal themselves because they’re probably known in the area.
