PHOENIX – We’re gonna call this guy the River Rock Bandit.
Phoenix police sergeant Darren Burch says the man hit the Danny’s Car Wash near 83rd Avenue and Bell on March 11, 2011 at 4 a.m.
Burch says he walked in carrying a large river rock.
“He displayed it to the clerk and threatened to hurt him with it unless the clerk gave him money,” Burch said. “And the clerk did so and the suspect took off walking from the area.”
No vehicle was seen.
Burch said the man was described as a white male with blonde hair between 18 and 22 years old. He is about six-feet tall and weighs between 150 and 175 pounds.
“He was wearing a somewhat of a distinctive hoodie,” Burch said. “It was black, white and yellow in appearance and he was also wearing black sneakers and gray sweatpants.”
“This is an armed robbery,” Burch said. “This is something that we don’t take lightly. It’s someone we need to get off the street.”
