PHOENIX – BANG! This robber found that a gunshot was a good way to get everyone’s attention as he walked into the Cricket store at 18th Street and Van Buren.
The robbery took place just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011, according to Phoenix police sergeant Darren Burch.
“The suspect walks in and he gets the clerk’s attention by removing a black revolver from his waistband, (then he) points the gun to the ceiling and fires a round, scaring the clerk” Burch said. “He then looks at the clerk and demands all the money in the cash register.”
Burch says the clerk handed over the cash and the guy took off.
Burch said the suspect is a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years old. He’s about 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighs around 185 pounds. He speaks English, but has a heavy Spanish accent.
“Very concerning,” Burch said of the incident. “If he’s willing to fire a round, then he’s very dangerous.”
