PHOENIX – Police need help catching a couple of costumed crooks.

Two men robbed financial institutions on separate occasions in late April, Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch said.

The first guy walked into the Credit Union at 3rd Avenue and Dunlap just before noon on April 23. He handed the teller a note demanding money, which isn’t an uncommon way to proceed in a robbery.

“What is unusual is the guy is wearing a Builder Bob outfit,” Burch said.

The suspect is a white male, about 30 years old. He is about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He has a pale complexion and a green tattoo on the back of his neck. A white construction hard hat, yellow safety glasses, a long blond wig and a white cloth tied around his neck comprise his outfit.

“This was clearly some type of costume,” Burch said.

Then, on April 27, a black male robbed a Wells Fargo bank on Ray Road and McQueen in Chandler.

This robber was dressed in a female’s clothing.

He decides to go with a totally color-coordinated getup. The man is wearing a black dress, with a purple blouse, purple slippers, a purple plaid hat and a black handbag. He was also wearing a long curly black wig. He’s about 6 feet tall, thin, with a light complexion and has tattoos on his right forearm.

“However, this one wasn’t just funny, it was also very dangerous,” Burch said. “The suspect held a gun at the teller, demanding money, and then began to drag her by her hair as he was trying to take money from the drawer. So this person is also very dangerous.”
