PHOENIX – There once was a man from south Phoenix who was never, in his entire life, heard to utter a curse word. His name was Anthony Pink.
Anthony’s older brother, Calvin, had nothing but nice things to say about his younger brother.
“He was just so delightful to be around, and when he became a pastor he brought so many people into the life of Christ.”
Calvin says Anthony was the youngest of nine children and had five children of his own.
“He was very much a people person and he loved kids,” Calvin said. “With his type of personality people would just always flock around him.”
Calvin said that Anthony was a sharp dressed man. In fact, dressing well was one of his passions.
“If you would have [seen] the way he had his closet, you would think it was like in a model home,” Calvin said.
On March 15th, 2008 at 1 a.m., Goodyear police got a call to respond to shots heard in the neighborhood of Cambridge and Virginia Streets, according to Phoenix Police Sergeant Darren Burch.
“The witnesses saw a dark SUV driving away from the scene immediately after hearing the shots, and then when police arrived they found Anthony shot to death inside his vehicle,” Burch said.
Sgt. Burch said that the police have no witness information regarding the suspects or motive for the crime.
“We don’t know if this was wrong place at the wrong time, a mistaken identity, [or] road rage,” Burch said. “We have again more questions than answers.”
Calvin said that Anthony was well loved. That’s why he’s pleading for the public’s help.
“Please come forth and let someone know what you know so that you could have that burden lifted off of your back.”
Anyone with information is asked to call (480) WITNESS.
