Twenty-year-old Virginia Rodriguez, six months pregnant with her third child, was murdered.
Her body was left decomposing in the bathroom of her apartment near 7th Avenue and Campbell.
Detectives found her a week later, on a hot summer day, just before noon on August 10th, 2005.
“She was the common law wife of Samuel Ramirez Moreno and they had two children – a 2-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son,” says Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone.
He says investigators believe Samuel killed Virginia and took-off with their kids. The couple had two vehicles. “An ’86 beige Chevy station wagon with Mexico plates and a ’73 gray primered Ford pickup with Arizona license plate.”
Both are gone. “Because two vehicles are missing and the apartment was vacated, they believe it’s likely that someone helped Samuel flee from the area and knows his whereabouts.”
Ramirez-Moreno is originally from Mexico, but it’s likely that he returns to Arizona to visit on occasion as he still has some ties here.
