Chirp chirp: Massive swarms of crickets invade Oklahoma

Um, ew.

According to the Huffington Post, Oklahoma is now home to millions of new residents: the brown field cricket.

“These outbreaks seem to occur after periods of prolonged dry weather in spring and early summer followed by rainfall in July and August,” said OSU’s Rick Grantham in a university press release. “Extensive soil cracking may be an important factor.”

An exterminator said the crickets are currently mating as well, so that’s, well, good for the crickets.

Excuse me while I stay inside and spray Raid on every window and door crack.

So gross!! #Crickets by @4myerickson
