Men accused of robbing Goodyear doughnut shop to settle drug debt

PHOENIX — Two suspects joined a third in jail last week for allegedly robbing a Goodyear doughnut shop to settle a drug debt, police said Thursday.
Police arrested Terrell Whitfield, 21, of Peoria and Joseph Conklin, 45, of Phoenix on June 4.
Whitfield and his twin Durrell were accused of robbing the Sugar N Spice shop near Indian School Road and Bullard Avenue at gunpoint on Jan. 13, police said.
Police said the brothers sold fentanyl pills to Conklin, who was also at the shop, and the robbery was planned to settle Conklin’s drug debt.

Police said the Whitfields took $500 from the store and stole wallets and a phone from three people inside the shop, then fled the scene.
Terrell Whitfield was charged with aggravated armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Durrell Whitfield, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge, faces the same charges as his brother.
Police said Conklin confessed and was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery.
