PHOENIX – Another city in metro Phoenix is considering the possibility of allowing electric scooters and shared bikes on its streets.

The city of Chandler has posted two surveys online to get a feel for what residents think of the sometimes controversial dockless modes of transportation.

Results of the surveys were expected to help Mayor Kevin Hartke and the city council determine the future of the mobile services in the East Valley’s second-largest city.

One survey, for the general public, asks whether respondents have used a scooter or bike sharing service, where and why.

Participants were also asked what they found most appealing about the scooters and bikes, whether the city should limit how many scooters and bikes were allowed and should the city should manage the program.

The second survey, directed to the business community, asked many of the same questions but added where in the city the scooters and bikes should be used and where they should be made to park.

Chandler’s surveys were to be available until the middle of July.

The Phoenix City Council recently put the brakes on its dockless bike program when no vendors showed interest. But staff has been working on a proposal for a pilot program featuring e-scooters that will only operate in and around downtown.

The scooters were banned at Arizona State University, and Peoria and Glendale also dropped plans for them.

We want to hear from you.
