PHOENIX – Night and morning drivers south of the Phoenix area should expect delays through the weekend as crews work to widen Interstate 10.

Overnight lane restrictions will be implemented Thursday-Sunday near Casa Grande. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in the restricted areas.

I-10 traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between milepost 197 and 199 on Thursday night into Friday morning as crews remove barrier walls west of Jimmie Kerr Boulevard.

From 8 p.m. Friday until to 9 a.m. Saturday, both lanes will be down to one lane for paving between Florence Boulevard and east of Interstate 8.

From 8 p.m. Saturday until to 9 a.m. Sunday, only one lane of westbound I-10 will be open because of paving work from east of I-8 to near Florence Boulevard.

From 8 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday, eastbound I-10 will be reduced one lane for paving between Florence Boulevard and I-8.

Work to widen I-10 to six lanes between Earley Road and I-8 is scheduled to be finished later in the summer.

Another 10 miles of I-10 east of Eloy is expected to be widened by early fall, creating three lanes in each direction between Casa Grande and Tucson.
