PHOENIX – A New Mexico man faces multiple drug and weapons charges after being arrested on an Arizona highway Thursday, authorities said.

Cyrus Ray Pool, 62, allegedly had an amount of methamphetamine worth more than $100,000 and five firearms in his vehicle when he was stopped on U.S. 60 in Globe, about 85 miles east of downtown Phoenix, according to a Gila County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Detectives from the agency’s Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force observed indicators of criminal activity during the traffic stop, and a K-9 unit alerted them to the vehicle.

The drugs were found in a hidden compartment in a trunk. The 998 grams of methamphetamine have a street value of approximately $125,000, the release said.

Authorities also seized three semi-automatic rifles, two semi-automatic handguns and 673 rounds of ammunition.

Pool, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, was arrested on four drug charges, including transportation and possession of a dangerous drug for sale, and two weapons charges.
