PHOENIX — Another large section of border wall will be replaced in southern Arizona after federal officials ordered for construction to begin immediately.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday that the work on approximately 63 miles of bollard wall in the Tucson Sector could begin immediately.
A smaller section of bollard wall would also be replaced in the El Centro Sector in California.
The projects will replace dilapidated and outdated designs, in addition to road construction and improvement and lighting installation.
The announcement was the latest since the department said it would approve construction to begin immediately on 26 miles of border wall in Arizona in April.
That work was focused on pedestrian wall in the Yuma Sector. It was not related to President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration.
