PHOENIX — A man in a northwest Arizona city was arrested over the weekend for allegedly leaving his infant daughter to die in a hot car.

Ty Martin, 23, was arrested for manslaughter Saturday after the girl was found unresponsive in a car in Lake Havasu City.

The girl had been left unattended in the car for about 45 minutes while he visited a friend, police said in a Monday news release.

First responders attempted life-saving measures on the girl, who was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Martin’s friend, 23-year-old Noah Grabowski, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession and cultivation of marijuana in connection to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Both Martin and Grabowski were held on no bond.

Lake Havasu Police called the incident “tragic” and “completely avoidable.”

“The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind everyone that it is never acceptable to leave a child unattended inside of a motor vehicle,” the news release read.

“Inside temperatures can spike rapidly, even with the air conditioner running. Also an unattended child inside of a vehicle, running or not, could be subjected to a host of other dangers.”

We want to hear from you.
