10 miles of Loop 202 in East Valley to close this weekend for paving

PHOENIX — About ten miles of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway will close this weekend for pavement improvements, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The road will be closed in both directions between the Loop 101 Price Freeway in Chandler and Williams Field Road in Gilbert from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday.
The southbound Loop 101 ramp to eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed.
Alternate routes include northbound Loop 101, U.S. 60 and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.
Crews will reopen sections of the freeway in stages as the work is completed.

It won’t be the only traffic snag to avoid on Valley freeways this weekend.
Westbound I-10 will be closed between 51st and 83rd avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for paving work on the future Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.
The South Mountain Freeway, expected to open in 2020, will be a 22-mile link between the East Valley and West Valley.
Westbound I-10 on-ramps at 27th, 35th and 43rd avenues will also be closed.
Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between Verrado Way and Loop 303 from 10 p.m. Friday to 12 p.m. Saturday for pavement work.
Westbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane in the same area from 10 p.m. Saturday to 12 p.m. Sunday.
The northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday for barrier wall repair.
ADOT encouraged drivers to take alternate routes or allow for extra time due to slowdowns.
