PHOENIX – The parents of a baby who was dropped on her head during delivery at a Phoenix-area hospital said in a social media post they only recently learned the little girl had a brain bleed.

Monique Rodgers posted video of the premature birth of twins on Wednesday. The girls, Morgan and Madison, were born in February.

Rodgers wrote that Chandler Regional Medical Center told her and her husband Derrick a week later that Morgan had a brain hemorrhage but not what caused it.

She said they had been unaware an ultrasound had even been run until the test results were revealed.

“I would like to prevent this from happening to other children being born at this hospital,” Rodgers wrote in a post that has gotten more than 1.2 million views as of early Friday.

In the video recorded by Derrick Rodgers, Morgan falls out of a staffer’s hands onto a delivery table. Another pair of hands reach out to keep the baby from hitting the floor.

Morgan weighed 3 pounds, 4 ounces at birth and spent 12 days in neonatal intensive care. Rodgers said the hospital has yet to offer an apology.

Dignity Health said in a partial statement emailed Friday to KTAR News 923 FM, “The safety of our patients and their families is always our top concern.

“The medical team at Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center takes this matter extremely seriously and is working to conduct a comprehensive review.”

The hospital said it was are unable to comment specifically on the incident, citing privacy laws and a request from the family to not share any information.

Rodgers told ABC15, “I kind of promised myself that I would never watch that video again.”
