PHOENIX — A pharmacy technician in metro Phoenix was convicted Tuesday of stealing hundreds of boxes of diabetic test strips from his employer.
Robert Brian Kemple, 31, was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay CVS Pharmacy more than $100,000 in restitution.
Kemple was originally charged in June with 33 criminal offenses for stealing over $100,000 of medical supplies from the company, where he worked in Goodyear.
Investigators found that Kemple used his position to order additional diabetic test strips for the pharmacy, but would steal them and sell them online.
He stole 556 boxes of the test strips between March 2017 and September 2017.
Kemple pleaded guilty in December to one count each of fraud, trafficking in stolen property and computer tampering.
After his release, Kemple will serve five years supervised probation.
