Residents of a neighborhood near 31st Avenue and Roosevelt Road were jolted out of sleep by a loud crash. It was just after 4:30 in the morning on Monday, October 24th, 2016.
“When they heard it,” says Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild, “they went outside and saw a vehicle that had struck a fence. Inside of that vehicle, unfortunately, is where we found both of our victims, who were unresponsive.”
Ronnie Orozco, 20, and 17-year-old Manuel Sanchez had both been shot. Neither survived.
Rothschild says the pair had been very close friends throughout their lives. Now, investigators are stumped as to why the pair may have been targeted.
They’d really like to talk to friends of Orozco and Sanchez.

Next… guard your golf bags.
“On several dates in March of 2019,” says Rothschild, “suspects have taken several golf bags from entrance areas or drop-off areas of Valley golf resorts.”
The bags were left unattended and the thieves took advantage. Police are hoping some of the victims have identifying marks on their clubs as they try to track down the stolen gear.
The suspects have been seen driving a white four door sedan.
