PHOENIX — Arizona is on the front line of the immigration crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Tens of thousands of migrants have crossed the border in recent months in order to seek asylum, according to statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

In an effort to fully understand the complicated situation, KTAR News 92.3 FM reporter Peter Samore and videographer Matt Bertram went to southern Arizona.

KTAR News 92.3 FM presents Arizona’s Immigration Crisis will bring you a comprehensive view of how we got to this crisis, who is affected by it and where we can — and should — go from here.

Monday will begin with a tour of the border, a ride along with Border Patrol and exclusive interviews with law enforcement officers who respond to the crisis.

Tuesday will break down how immigration is affecting the communities of Yuma and San Luis and how immigration allows industries thrive off of it.

Wednesday will explore how the surge of border crossings is affecting communities in the Phoenix area and how migrants are being treated.

Thursday will weigh the options of how local and national lawmakers can address this crisis and help both residents and migrants.

Tune to Arizona’s News Station starting at 5 a.m. Monday for the weeklong event.

We want to hear from you.
