PHOENIX — Arizonans who are planning to attend either of the music festivals in Southern California this month will likely experience traffic headaches.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival runs Friday through Sunday each of the next two weekends, then Stagecoach Festival takes place the weekend of April 26.
Both are held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, approximately 250 miles west of Phoenix.
The California Department of Transportation said the festivals will affect traffic on Interstate 10 and State Route 60.
Peak travel days for eastbound traffic are the Fridays before the events. Sundays are peak travel days for westbound traffic.
Authorities advised that people traveling on northbound Interstate 15 should be aware of long-term closures of routes 74 and 243 for storm damage repair.
Drivers can instead connect to Interstate 215 north to the 10 or 60.
