PHOENIX — A major freeway will be restricted nightly south of Phoenix all week to allow crews to continue construction on a widening project.
Westbound Interstate 10 will be reduced to one lane just north of Interstate 8 near Casa Grande overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday night and ending Sunday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Jimmie Kerr Boulevard will also be closed at I-10 during those times.
Drivers should expect to see slower traffic and experience minor delays while the restrictions are in place.
Drivers on eastbound Jimmie Kerr Boulevard can use Trekel Road to eastbound I-8 to Sunland Gin Road.
Westbound drivers can use the on-ramp to westbound I-10 and travel to Florence Boulevard then follow eastbound I-10 back to Jimmie Kerr Boulevard.

The restrictions will allow crews to set girders in place for the new bridge that will carry westbound I-10 over Jimmie Kerr Boulevard in Casa Grande.
The bridge will allow for a third lane and a shoulder. A similar project is in the works on the I-10 near Eloy.
Crews have been working to widen a 4-mile section of I-10 from Earley Road to I-8. It will create a 6-lane freeway from Casa Grande through Tucson.
The project is expected to be complete by late August after crews pour the concrete deck for the bridge and pave new lanes.
