Authorities are searching for suspects in two seemingly unrelated Phoenix robberies last month that could have had much worse endings.
The first case happened at the CVS at 16th Street and Camelback Road on the night of Feb. 19.
“The suspect walked into the store and he began placing items inside his coat,” says Phoenix Police Detective Mike Fischer.
An employee was watching and confronted the guy as headed toward the door.
Fischer says, “The suspect then displayed a knife and he told the clerk not to stop him.”
He got away in a 2004 dark-colored, possibly black car. It may have been a Pontiac Grand Am.
Fischer says it’s natural to want to stop a crime when you see one happening.
“But at the same time, think about the consequences. In this case, this guy was armed with a knife and luckily, he didn’t cut-up the employee.”

Our next case takes us to the Jack in the Box at 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road. On Feb. 23, two men came in just after the lunch hour and got behind another customer in line.
“And,” says Fischer, “One of the suspects actually offered to pay for the food of the customer in front of them. Then as the register opened, both of the suspects then grabbed the money out of it.”
Again, employees as well as a customer tried to stop the duo, but were pushed out of the way.
“Here’s another case where we ask people not to take any action just be good witnesses,” says Fischer.
