PHOENIX — Authorities are continuing their investigation for a 38-year-old Pima County woman with Down syndrome who has been missing since last week.

Sara Galloway was last seen in the front yard of her Avra Valley home around 7:30 a.m. March 21, activating a Silver Alert. She functions at an 8-year-old level.

Deputy James Allerton with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told KTAR News 92.3 FM said the active search for Galloway ended Wednesday.

Allerton said an active search involves search-and-rescue deputies checking the area from the air and ground.

“We have used every resource at our disposal and all available detectives and deputies were dedicated to searching for Sara Galloway over the past several days,” Allerton said in an email.

“Our detectives checked over 600 properties and residences for any sign of Sara and to talk to anyone that might have seen her or know anything,” he said.

Allerton added that detectives assigned to the case will continue to check any lead or tip that comes in.

“We no longer have multiple assets on the area, but we are checking any lead or tip that we receive and looking at everything we possibly can,” he said.

Galloway was last seen wearing a gray sweater, dark pants and rainbow unicorn shoes.

She was described as a 4-foot-11 woman with brown hair and brown eyes.

Galloway is geographically challenged and is not aware of her surroundings, making it very easy for her to get lost.

She has no access to money, social media or a phone and is not carrying any form of ID.

Anyone with information about Galloway’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or submit an anonymous tip on 88-CRIME.org.

We want to hear from you.
