PHOENIX — A suspect was in custody after two people were killed and four more injured in a shooting in Phoenix early Tuesday, authorities said.

The six people were at a house party near 27th and Dunlap avenues when the shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m.

Sgt. Armando Carbajal with the Phoenix Police Department said around 10:45 a.m. an unidentified 29-year-old suspect was arrested.

A 17-year-old woman and man in his 30s were killed when the suspect, a man who had been at the party, left after an argument, returned and opened fire.

“There was a knock at the door, somebody opened the door and the suspect went inside and just began shooting randomly,” Carbajal told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News.

Four men were taken to hospitals, including a 22-year-old, a 29-year-old and 50-year-old. Carbajal said they all had serious injuries but were expected to survive.

The suspect left again, driving north on 27th Avenue.

Carbajal said the verbal argument that led to the shooting was over a relationship.

Authorities shut down 27th Avenue between Butler Drive and Interstate 17.

No other details were immediately available.
