Silver Alert canceled for missing Mesa man with dementia

PHOENIX – A Silver Alert was canceled Tuesday afternoon after an elderly Mesa man with dementia went missing.
Mesa Police said Dennis Downey, 83, returned home safely around 4 p.m.
Downey was last seen at 9:30 a.m., when he left his house near Ellsworth and Baseline roads, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
He was heading to Mountain Vista Medical Center at Southern Avenue and Crismon Road to have stitches removed from his head following a fall a few days earlier.
Downey was driving a red 2014 Nissan Rogue with license plate BGS6878 and wearing a gray shirt with gray pants and black glasses.
He is 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds and has green eyes and gray hair.
