PHOENIX — An Arizona restaurant chain, Macayo’s, with more than eight locations in the Valley is changing ownership.

After opening the first Macayo’s in 1946, Woody and Victoria Johnson have sold the rights to the Macayo’s name and six of the eight remaining restaurants to Kind Hospitality, which is based out of Mesa, according to ABC15.

The remaining two restaurants will continue to be owned and operated by Woody’s three children, Sharisse, Gary and Stephen Johnson.

Macayo’s closed its locations in Casa Grande and Tucson in 2018. A location that was owned by another family member in Las Vegas announced that it would close in March.

Kind Hospitality will be acquiring locations in Ahwatukee, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa and Surprise.

They plan to renovate and update each location and have been considering the possibility opening more restaurants, although no timetable was given.

We want to hear from you.
