PHOENIX – Two weeks after closing its original Tempe restaurant, a family-owned Valley pizza place is up and running a few blocks away.

Spinato’s Pizzeria & Family Kitchen started service Monday at 96 S. Rockford Drive, just east of the Tempe Marketplace off Rio Salado Parkway.

At 5,700 square feet, the new spot seats 190 guests and is three times larger than the Smith Street location, which served its last meal Feb. 3.

Unlike at the original venue, customers can order beer, wine and spirits at the new establishment.

In addition to new food items, the restaurant added a grab-and-go area for salads, sandwiches and desserts.

“Our new location will be a completely unique design compared to our others,” Anthony Spinato, the company’s vice president, said in a press release.

“The kitchen will be an open style allowing our guests to see the Spinato’s family passionately at work, and the ambiance will have a distinct and more sophisticated look while still paying homage to the original Tempe location.”

Spinato’s operates four other Valley restaurants, which will be rebranded to match the new location’s menu, logo and feel.
