PHOENIX — Longtime fans said goodbye to Cowboy Ciao, an Old Town Scottsdale staple for 21 years, in October.
Now tiki bar Drunk Munk will take over the popular spot near Stetson Drive and Sixth Avenue.
The bar will open its doors at 4 p.m. on March 28. There will be food and drink specials, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
“We are grateful to have the chance at opening in such a stable restaurant location like Cowboy Ciao,” Drunk Munk co-owner Greg Donnally said in a press release.
The 4,600-square-foot building is being renovated to fit the new Polynesian theme, with a dining area that will seat 150 guests and a patio seating 50.
Drunk Munk will offer an Asian-inspired menu, including flaming pu pu platters, Tomahawk ribeye steak, sushi, sandwiches and salads, with red velvet waffles for weekend brunch.
The restaurant plans to hire around 50 people and is holding an on-site job fair 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
“We are excited to bring something new and different like Drunk Munk to Scottsdale,” Donnally said.
